DEVELOPING A BUSINESS CONTINUITY PLAN FOR YOUR BUSINESS

The St. Lucia Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture continues its program of providing increased value and level of support services particularly to its Smaller Members and MSMEs in particular. We continue to partner with local (SLDB) and regional like minded partners Karayibe Klima and CARICHAM to help build the resilience of the private sector.

The ultimate objective of improving access to finance remains one of the driving forces  that is behind our efforts at providing information, skills and know how to our clientele.  We present another E- Workshop; Developing a Business Continuity Plan; the ABC's of Climate Securing Your Business.

Having a solid BCP is one of the best ways to ensure that when some type of untimely event occurs, your business can be up and running quickly. Preparing for the worst is crucial in these uncertain times and can go a long way in ensuring that ones business is one of the one in four business that actually reopens after a disaster.  Having a plan as to how one can and will secure and protect its major assets, and mitigate any possible losses or damage is part of the crucial components of a BCP.

BCPs do not have to be complex and are not very difficult to develop, test and make workable.  Working with Andrew George an ISO Certified BCP Trainer with years of practical experience in helping firms, large and small put in place workable BCPs,  the Chamber offers this must do program for MSME's.

The use of Video Presentations to guide step by step BCP development is an additional feature of this program alongside a BCP Guide, makes this a real interactive and practical workshop with tangible deliverables, including a SLDB acceptable plan, which is a qualifying condition for accessing the CAFF. This workshop is  about more than compliance, it is about placing your business on a more resilient footing by having a high quality workable BCP.

The BCP Workshop will have a number of critical components:

  • Part 1  Independent Study ( Four hours of  video presentations which must be viewed by each participant prior to participating in Part 2).
  • Part 2 :  A four hour (2 sessions) E- Workshop where the draft BCP will be the final product, with table top exercises delivered virtually.
  • Part 3 :  A Site Visit of your Business to match BCP to the Businesses actual Facility.
  • Part 4  :  Final Certification Visit.

The objective of the Chamber is to build the resilience of MSMEs in St. Lucia. St. Lucia like its sister islands are extremely vulnerable to natural, cyber, bio and man-made disasters. This knowledge must be translated to definitive and deliberate actions to reduce vulnerability to known risks and build the resilience of  your business.

With financial support of SLDB and the Karayibe Klima Project Strengthening the Resilience of the Caribbean Private Sector, this Chamber BCP workshop will go along way in helping firms build the resilience of their firm and also access resources to recover from the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, while reducing their vulnerability to Climate Change. You are encouraged to register early and secure your seat as spaces are limited.
