You would by now have realized that since last year a myriad of challenges has been placed by COVID 19 on the global supply chain with increasing significantly impact on prices of goods (particularly food). In the last few months, it has become apparent that commodity prices and freight cost increases continue. Logistical, operational and other factors are cited as some of the reasons for these increases, which continue unabated.

You are only too well aware of the magnitude of increases that are expected or has been experienced, on freight cost for dry and reefer shipments from the Europe and China for example ( with no anticipated reduction in freight costs until late 2022).

With that scenario starting to play out itself on supermarket and other retail shelves, the St. Lucia Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture wishes to bring members together to discuss these common issues and agree on the manner in which we will address the public and the Government as it would be wise to explain to both what is happening internationally and how this is impacting prices locally.

Considering the pressing nature of the situation The Chamber proposes a Zoom Meeting tomorrow Thursday 30 September at 11:00 a.m. to discuss this matter and how we can as a collective voice address the public and Government on this matter.

Looking forward to your urgent confirmation of your availability and willingness to attend.

Sincerely

Brian Louisy

Executive Director
